A Ladies Guide to Santorini, Greece: Where to Eat, Stay, and What to Do

Santorini, Greece was the next stop on our trip, and it was so dreamy! The island is made of volcanic rock, essentially a cliff overlooking the water. We were dropped off from the boat that we took from Paros to Santorini and on the drive in, we drove up the island into the clouds. You feel as if you are entering into the heavens. None of this would have been possible without our family and the help of our incredible travel agent, Melissa Travels. In this blog, I will break down each place we ate and stayed in Santorini, Greece.

Day 1

10 am: Boat from Paros to Santorini

2 pm: Arrive in Santorini

3 pm: Check-in at Hotel

Where we stayed: Ducato Di Oia

vacation in Santorini, Greece

This island is incredible. The beautiful sunsets, delicious food, and all the fun boating activities made this a trip of a lifetime.

Pro Tip: Be sure to pack comfortable shoes. You will not be wearing the wedges you packed, I promise. Those stairs are no joke. Be sure you are in good physical health before booking the plane ticket.

The first day mainly consisted of getting settled in, grabbing some food, and relaxing with a glass of wine.

Day 2

9 am: Complimentary Breakfast at the hotel

We then walked around and shopped at local stores where I fell in love with this authentic, Anthropologie type of store. (See pictures for contact info.) She was a little intense but made the entire experience personalized and amazing. Highly recommend! Plus, she will ship to the United States. Keep in mind, this was a splurge kinda moment. Her items are a little on the higher end of my preferred price point. I bought a tablecloth and a table runner.

2:30 pm: We enjoyed a sunset Catamaran cruise with the family.

We ate an authentic lunch, jumped in sulfur water near an inactive volcano, and watched a breathtaking sunset on the water. This is a MUST when visiting Santorini. I felt like we got a real tour of Santorini by boat. It was stunning. I even took the plunge and joined Justin in the freezing sulfur water. It did have hot spots though, which helped. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. Truly I would follow this man anywhere.

Not pictured, me taking 30 mins before jumping in to take off all of my jewelry. Leslie (Justin’s mom) is the real MVP. :)

Day 3

9 am: Complimentary Breakfast at the hotel

We loved relaxing in the plunge pool with the best views right outside of our cool, upscale cave. You had to see it to believe it. The boutique hotel used to be where the captains lived. They would dock their boats on this side of the island because the waves aren’t as bad.

They would watch out for their boat at night. With these views, I was ready to move in full-time. I mean who needs the gym when you have stairs like that?

3:00 pm: We went on a wine tour and visited multiple local, family vineyards. White wine is the drink of choice in this area due to the sun and harsh climate. The way they grow the grape is really interesting. It is spun into a basket to protect the grapes against the wind.

Below is a 100-year-old basket harvested from an old grapevine.

We wrapped up our trip with a beautiful sunset on the island with a drink in our hand. The perfect way to end this beautiful 10-day family trip.
