A Ladies Guide to Athens, Greece: Where to Eat, Stay, and What to Do

When you think of “going Greek,” you don’t necessarily think of the cuisine. Your memory may flashback to the good ole days of college or it may send you spiraling down the rabbit hole. In this case, I am all about the food and activities we enjoyed on our recent trip across Greece. None of this would have been possible without the help of our incredible travel agent, Melissa Travels. In this blog, I will break down each place we ate and stayed in Athens.

Athens, Greece

Day 1

7 am: Private Transfer from Athens Airport to Hotel

Where we stayed: Electra Metropolis Hotel

7 pm: Dinner Reservation on the rooftop

This day was a marathon! We hit the ground running after a long flight which helped with the jetlag.

Fun Fact: Marathons began in Greece.

The hotel was incredibly nice with an amazing rooftop view of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is located. We had complimentary breakfast each day with that view. The first night we enjoyed an amazing dinner watching the sunset behind the Acropolis.

Day 2

7 am : Woke up and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast

8 am - 1pm: Private Acropolis Tour (it was incredible)

Lunch Here

Exploring the Parthenon

Our tour guide was incredible. She is a Greek woman with so much pride for her country and antiquity. We spent time here and at The Acropolis Museum. If you appreciate anthropology, this is the travel experience for you. I nerd out over moments like this and it did not disappoint. Pro Tip: Wear comfortable shoes because a majority of the path is uneven.

Fun Fact: Although Greek Mythology is an important part of Greek culture, the official religion of Greece is Greek Orthodox.

Day 3: Trip to Corinth

7 am: Woke up and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.

8 am - 1pm: Private drive to Corinth to walk in St. Paul’s footsteps. We hiked up the Acropolis overlooking all of Corinth. It was breathtaking literally and figuratively. (This is definitely for those who are ready to hike.)

We also toured Ancient Corinth which were ruins. You can tell it once stood as a bustling city for trade and politics. We found a local restaurant near Ancient Corinth for a quick lunch and then back on the road to Athens. It was about a two-hour drive back.

Day 4:

7 am: Woke up and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast

10 am: The Benaki Museum of Greek Culture

12 pm: Lunch at The Gods Restaurant

2 pm: We took a stroll through the Park in the heart of Athens.

3 pm: Then we explored where the first Olympics took place. Fun Fact: The runners opted not to wear clothes due to the heat. Talk about a show. Then we went into the museum.

6 pm: We had dinner near the hotel, came back to the hotel, and packed for our next stop, Paros, Greece.
